Susan was elected to the Concord City Council in 2002, and is now serving as Mayor. Under
Susan's leadership, the City of Concord continues to balance its budget, plan ahead
financially for 10 years, and fund a 15% reserve account for emergencies. When the state of
California drastically cut funds to local governments, Concord was one of the few cities in
Contra Costa prepared to meet this fiscal challenge while remaining financially strong. This
is the type of decision making and leadership Susan will bring to the County Board of Supervisors. |

If elected, Susan Bonilla will promote a multiyear county financial plan and require every
program to establish its effectiveness before being funded. She will work with our firefighters,
police and deputy sheriffs to upgrade their ability to respond quickly in an earthquake,
disaster or other emergency. Susan Bonilla will support a strong urban growth boundary to
control traffic and development, and she will require developers to pay for needed road
improvements. |

Susan works hard to get things done for Concord residents. She serves on the Safe and Drug Free
Schools Task Force and is co-chairman of a task force working with the Salvation Army to secure
a $60 million grant to build and fund a new community center. |
